Amtico International has given some much needed TLC to the flooring at Northampton General Hospital. In part of a larger refurbishment project within the hospital, the old flooring in the canteen and reception area has been replaced with a high quality solution from Amtico International. The previous floorings fitted were a mixture of materials including carpet and linoleum and these had begun to look tired and worn-out. Spacia was specified to unify the areas, providing a fresh appearance throughout.
The 200 square metre upgrade was specified and installed by contractors Absolute Coverings Limited of Silverstone. This saw the installation of Spacia in a key colour of Limestone Cool. Within the canteen, contrasting Ceramic Terracotta was used as a border to differentiate areas.
Durability, low maintenance and speed of installation were all essential factors in deciding upon Spacia for the refurbishment as director of Absolute Coverings, Stephen Rams explained.
He said: “As with all hospitals hygiene is of the utmost importance and the Spacia urethane coating protects against indentation and stains where bacteria can live and breed.
“The location of the installation required the floor to withstand a high level of footfall including trolleys and wheelchairs whilst retaining its initial appearance for years to come.
Spacia’s ease of installation allowed us to work quickly and efficiently in stages minimising any disruption to the running of the hospital, which remained open throughout the project.”
