Ali McGill making space on his sideboard

HiQ franchisee Ali McGill is making some space in his HiQ Blyth reception to display a gleaming new award, after being honoured by Northumberland County Council.

Ali, who owns five fast fit centres in the north east of England, is the toast of his local authority, having scooped the Employer of the Year award at the council’s Adult Learning Awards.

Ali was mixing with civic dignitaries at Northumberland’s council chambers when he picked up the accolade, thanks to a successful apprenticeship programme with the council.

Ali said: “It was a great evening and lovely to be acknowledged in this way, with so many other hardworking local companies.

“There were a number of success stories and inspirational accounts of people overcoming personal obstacles to succeed in the workplace.”

Meanwhile, Ali has given HiQ’s Academy scheme a big thumbs-up for its work with budding technicians.

He added: “The HiQ Academy is an extremely good programme and appears to be very well structured.

“We already have a 12 month calendar of courses, and they have been developed for the front line. They are more skills related and more relevant to the lads we employ, which is great.”

The HiQ Academy offers a dedicated range of skills for employees including business management, technical training, product knowledge, health and safety and a high level of customer services.

It is geared up to helping each franchisee provide the ultimate customer experience at each of their centres.

The Academy is a comprehensive service which is supplied in the most appropriate form whether on-site, in the classroom, in a dummy workshop environment or via e-learning.
