A further education college turned to Amtico International when replacing its worn out carpet, opting for a more durable alternative.
North Hertfordshire College’s 700 sq metre upgrade, saw the installation of the Spacia Access range throughout the atrium of its Stevenage site. The e, area comprises of a 100 seater canteen, recreation area and learning resource centre.
The college’s suspended flooring required a range that could not only withstand the high footfall of students and was simple to maintain, but also flexible enough to easily gain access to the under floor utilities.
Head of Estates at North Hertfordshire College, Brian Sapsed, believes the contemporary finish enhances the professional image of the college.
He said: “We are very pleased with the wood effect flooring. The Bleached Elm creates a modern airy look that is more conducive to learning.
“Previously we had maroon carpet tiles that required endless maintenance. It was only five years old but looked completely worn. Spillages from the canteen diners were impossible to remove and the dark colour created an uninspiring impression.”
Contractors, Contract Design Flooring, CDF, specified and fitted the Amtico Spacia Access flooring. “Having worked with CDF on previous projects we have installed Amtico in various areas in our other four sites and have always found it to be very durable and retain its appearance. The Spacia Access range has enabled us to replicate these benefits and also reduce our maintenance cost.” added Brian.
Sian Lewis, UK Marketing Manager at Amtico International, said: “The Spacia Access range is designed to be installed without the need for a permanent adhesive and comes with a 10 year warranty. The versatile floor is available in wood, stone and abstract effects and is suitable for both semi-permanent and permanent commercial applications.”
Amtico International has 40 years’ experience in designing, engineering and manufacturing some of the most innovative and resilient flooring products in the world. The company delivers flooring solutions to industry and business as well as domestic environments.
