Inspirational flooring company Amtico International has received the highest possible rating in the latest BRE Green Guide to Specification.
The online guide provides designers and specifiers with clear advice on how to make the best environmental choices when selecting products.
BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is the leading and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings. It sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and has become the de facto measure used to describe a building's environmental performance.
Amtico International product ranges received top marks in the April 2009 assessment. Amtico, Spacia and Stratica all attained identical ratings. The top ‘A*’ rating was given to the health, retail and education areas whilst commercial areas were awarded an ‘A’ rating.
The products were assessed in terms of their environmental impact across a 60 year life cycle, within comparable specifications.
Amtico International’s UK Marketing Manager, Sian Lewis, said: “We have long been committed to the minimising the environmental impact of our products. We’re delighted the industry has recognised our achievements.”
The Green Guide is part of the Bre Environmental Assessment Method, an accredited environmental rating scheme for buildings. It contains more than 1500 specifications used in various types of buildings.
