ABERDEEN BUSINESS DRIVES UP SUPPORT FOR SAFER ROADS

A group of Aberdeen commercial vehicle businesses are supporting the region’s road safety campaign aimed at encouraging motorists to drive within the legal speed limit.

Aberdeen Van Centre, Clark Commercials and Budget rental, all part of the John Clark Motor Group, are getting behind North East Safety Camera Partnership (NESCAMP) to promote safer driving by displaying speed awareness stickers in all of its Volkswagen courtesy and rental fleet vehicles.

The aim of NESCAMP is to make the roads safer for all users. By promoting speed limits and encouraging drivers to drive at a speed appropriate for the road conditions they hope to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on Grampian’s roads.

The speed awareness stickers provide a useful reference for drivers who are unsure of the speed limits in different types of vehicles or are not experienced in driving on UK roads.

Speaking of the road safety campaign Robert McWilliam, operations manager for John Clark Motor Group, said: “We are very happy to support this latest initiative and feel it’s always important to remind drivers of the speed limits to help keep our roads safer.

“These stickers are very valuable for our rental customers who are not always as familiar with the speed restrictions when driving a commercial vehicle.”

Julie Smith, Partnership Manger at NESCAMP added: "We are delighted that these stickers will be displayed within John Clark Group's vehicles. It is vitally important that drivers understand the speed limit varies for different kinds of vehicle."

To reinforce the safety message, each of the Volkswagen commercial vehicles businesses are promoting NESCAMP drive safety campaign within their showroom.
