Simon Davis, who works at Bury’s Volkswagen retailer, Smith Knight Fay, was presented with the prize of ‘sales executive of the year’ for the 13 northern branches of Inchcape’s Volkswagen retailers.
The 29-year-old beat off competition from over 70 colleagues to secure the award that is given to the sales executive who receives the most amount of customer satisfaction, delivers a service in line with company standards and sells the most amount of vehicles.
He said: “I can’t believe to have won this award again and I’m delighted customers think of me so highly.
“Customer satisfaction is my main priority, as without customers you have no business.
“I thoroughly enjoy my job and look forward to defending my title this year.”
In 2010 Simon sold 364 cars, over 20 per cent more than in 2009. His customer satisfaction rating is one of the highest in the UK, with 97 per cent of his customers completely satisfied with the service they received.
Smith Knight Fay Volkswagen’s brand manager, Steve Thomas, said: “Amazingly Simon has been working in the automotive industry for just over two years, but he is clearly a positive role model for other sales executives.

Pink propels local team's winning streak

A newly established football club is reaping the rewards from its recent shirt sponsorship that has seen the squad sport bright pink jerseys.
Sudbury Vikings Football Club, who is sponsored by Volkswagen Van Centre (Bury St Edmunds), is flying high in The Treadfirst Sudbury & District Sunday League after winning five of its last six games.
The run has seen the club propel into second place with just over half of the league campaign played, and according to team manager, Alan Tychowski, the sponsorship deal and choice of kit colour has been instrumental in the team’s success on and off the field.
He said: “We are delighted to have the secured the sponsorship deal with our local Volkswagen van centre.
“Setting up the team on a tight budget was hard work, but with the support of Volkswagen Van Centre (Bury St Edmunds) the whole process was much easier.
“We chose the striking strip colour as we were confident no other league team would be wearing the colour pink, so we wouldn't need to invest a second team strip,” said Alan.
“Also, wearing pink strips is excellent motivation for the team not to lose too often in the league campaign – and it seems to be working at the moment!”
David Nichols, head of business at Volkswagen Van Centre (Bury St Edmunds), said that the business was delighted to have helped the Sudbury Vikings get their feet off the ground.
He said: “It’s a pleasure to be the official sponsor of Sudbury Vikings Football Club and it’s great to see the lads performing well on the pitch, let’s hope they can keep it up.
“The local community is very important to us and we have made it our company policy to support individuals from the region where we can.”

FEMALE APPRENTICE MAKES THE MOTORSPORT GRADE
A Bury apprentice has been selected from hundreds of applicants to be part of a new Volkswagen Group motorsport team.
Vicky Moorby, who is learning her trade as a car technician at Bury Volkswagen retailer Smith Knight Fay, impressed judges with her knowledge of motor performance at a team selection day recently.
The process was extremely competitive, after Volkswagen receiving over 300 applications from Volkswagen Group apprentices all over the UK for just 12 positions.
The 18-year-old is the only female in the team and spoke of her delight at securing a prestigious place on the motorsport team, that will last for a year.
She said: “I’m thrilled that I have this very rare opportunity to apply my knowledge and enthusiasm to motorsport
“I owe a great deal to Smith Knight Fay and Volkswagen, they’ve given me so much already with my apprenticeship and this feels like the icing on the cake – I’m so excited.”
Following her selection, Moorby and her team-mates supported a Skoda Fabia rally car at an event in Worcestershire, where it performed rides, drives and public displays.
Smith Knight Fay’s brand manager, Steve Thomas, said: “Vicky has great passion about her job and her hard work has paid off by this reward.
“It’s great for the region to have a representative working for a national team and that Smith Knight Fay Volkswagen is training apprentices to the highest standard.”
Now half-way through her three-year apprenticeship course, the car enthusiast reaffirmed her desire to reach great heights as a motor technician.
Vicky added: “This is the only job I have ever wanted to do. I’m building my knowledge base and experience all of the time and I’m determined to reach the very top of my profession.”
