A Romford retailer is celebrating after raising funds for a local children’s charity by holding an art and music exhibition in its showroom.
Inchcape Volkswagen raised £250 for Addsup, and has donated a car to Havering College which was used as part of live art on the night.
The car became a canvas for art students to express their artistic flair by painting up the old vehicle in graffiti style art.
The ‘graffiti’ car will be auctioned off via a raffle and it is hoped an extra £500 will be raised for Addsup which helps young children with mental illness cope through art and drama therapy.
The A12 Colchester Road retailer transformed its showroom into an art hall to display the works of local artist, Barry Andrews. Guests also enjoyed the musical talents of classical singer, Louisa Barry and accompanist, Hara Kostogianni.
Richard Taylor, Inchcape Volkswagen’s brand manager, said: “Over 150 guests attended the evening and the art exhibition and music was thoroughly enjoyed by all.”
“We are thrilled we could donate a car to the local college, so that the students could express themselves artistically as well as allowing us to raise more funds for Addsup.”
Artist Barry Andrews added: “The evening was a complete success and I’m glad I had the opportunity to share my art with the local community.
“I will be making a donation to Addsup, as on the night I sold eleven pieces of my work.”
Tickets for the ‘graffiti’ car raffle are just £1 and available from Inchcape’s showroom. Visitors can also inspect the car as it is currently on display in the retailer’s showroom.
