Sinclair van specialists scoop national trophy

A team of specialists from a Swansea business is celebrating after winning a coveted national title.

Team Sinclair, from the Sinclair Van Centre on Gorseinon Road Swansea , has been crowned the most knowledgeable aftersales’ experts by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK.

The four-strong Sinclair Van centre team emerged victorious after beating over 60 other aftersales teams from across the UK Volkswagen network.

The battle of expertise quiz focused on all aspects of Volkswagen aftersales practices to assess the knowledge of the commercial vehicle network in the national final at Volkswagen’s UK headquarters in Milton Keynes.

Kevin Jones, team member and master technician at Sinclair stated: “It was certainly a fun way to review the technicial knowledge that is essential to ensure we keep our customers vehicles correctly maintained.

Huw Jones, parts advisor, commented: “The Sinclair Group prides itself on providing a consistent level of service and this is only possible with regular training. They say knowledge is power and this is certainly true for us.

David Jones, after sales manager, said: “We were delighted to receive the ‘Who Knows Wins Aftersales’ trophy and intend to vigorously defend our title next year.”

The Sinclair team was made up of David Jones, Kevin Jones and Huw Jones from Sinclair Van Centre Swansea and Andrew Molyneux, Volkswagen area aftersales manager for the region.

CHARITY MATCH IS A WINNING SUCCESS

The Swansea City All Stars stormed to victory in a charity football match against the Sinclair Group, which saw over £3,000 raised for a young mother, who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Nicole Blower, from Maesteg, had previously been working at Sinclair Volkswagen in Bridgend as a customer service advisor before suffering from severe headaches which eventually led to emergency surgery.

The 23-year-old was diagnosed with a serious brain tumour on the same day she underwent an emergency caesarean and now faces an intensive course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment.

The event was organised by Sinclair Volkswagen and Sinclair Van Centre to help support Nicole, her husband Stefan and new son, Harvey, during this difficult time.

Over 200 of Nicole’s work colleagues and friends attended the match which saw Swansea stars Colin Pascoe and Alan Curtis amongst the goal scores.

Clive Williams, operations manager for Sinclair Volkswagen explained: “We were so pleased that Nicole was able to attend the match.

“We are delighted with the generosity and support from everyone and donations are still coming in.

“This is such a traumatic time for Nicole and her family and our thoughts are very much with them. We hope these funds will go towards helping them enjoy some very special moments together.”

Nicole was 36 weeks pregnant when she collapsed with serious headaches. Her healthy baby boy, Harvey, was born prematurely by an emergency caesarean section and within 24 hours Nicole had undergone two major operations to remove the tumour.

STAR STUDDED CHARITY MATCH SUPPORTS YOUNG MOTHER

A charity football match between the Swansea City All Stars and Sinclair Van Centre and passenger cars takes place on Sunday 17th October helping to raise funds for a young mother who has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Nicole Blower, from Maesteg, underwent an emergency caesarean with her first child on the same day the 23-year-old was diagnosed with a serious brain tumour.

For the past four years Nicole has worked at Sinclair in Bridgend as a customer service advisor but now faces an intensive course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment to reduce the tumour.

Organisers of the event, Sinclair Volkswagen and Sinclair Van Centre, are inviting families and football fans to the match, which will star former Welsh International and Swansea City players, including, Colin Pascoe and Alan Curtis.

VIP tickets to Cardiff City, the Swans, signed sporting memorabilia and champagne will form part of a days’ raffle.

All proceeds from the event will go to help support Nicole and her family as Clive Williams, operations manager for Sinclair Volkswagen explained: “This is such a traumatic time for Nicole and her husband, Stefan. We felt such a strong desire to lend our support that we organised the charity match. Our aim is to have a sell out game.

“Stefan has given up work to look after Nicole and their newborn baby, Harvey, and we hope the funds raised will go towards helping them enjoy some very special moments together during this difficult time.”

Sinclair Van Centre putts a new sponsorship

A South Wales Van Centre is delighted to announce its support for the Golf Union of Wales (GUW) by providing a tournament support vehicle for its 2010 competitive season.

Sinclair Van Centre has supplied the governing body for amateur golfers with a Volkswagen Transporter for its latest series of championship tournaments, which take place across Wales.

It is the first time the Union has received such a sponsorship. Previously an estate car had been used to transport the vast amount of equipment required for each event, as Liz Edwards, Director of Championships at the GUW explained.

“There is an increasingly large amount of equipment required to set up the Championship office in order to stage a successful event.

“Packing, unpacking and re-packing the likes of scoreboards, clock boards, flags, and tee markers into an estate car was a constant challenge.

“Our partnership with Sinclair Van Centre has made a huge difference. We can now effortlessly transport the equipment plus travel in comfort.”
