MODUS mos get growing for charity

A team led by the UK’s leading darts management company are letting their moustaches grow wild this November in support of global charity Movember.

The MODUS Sports Management team will feature world class darts players James Wade, Mark Webster, Paul Nicholson and Arron Monk as well as professional referee George Noble, who are all growing their upper lip topiary for the charity.

The boys start growing their moustaches today and fans can keep up to date with their progress via the MODUS twitter page – www.twitter.com/modusdarts 180 or by tuning in to the PDC Grand Slam of Darts, which starts live on Sky on Saturday 12 November 2011.

Funds raised in the UK support the number one and two male specific cancers - prostate and testicular cancer. The funds raised are directed to programmes run directly by Movember and their men’s health partners, The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research. Together, these channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programmes in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.

Jason Thame, MODUS’s managing director, said: “Viewers are in for a real treat when they tune in to the Grand Slam of Darts this year. I’ve seen these guys when they are partly shaven and it can be quite horrific. How they’ll look with the fully Monty is anyone’s guess. Seriously, this is a fantastic initiative, and we are delighted to be supporting it.”

James Wade is the second most successful PDC player of all time, with major titles including the 2011 Speedy Hire UK Open. He said: “I’m delighted to be supporting such a worthwhile cause. If the guys and I can help drive awareness in such a busy, high profile darts month, it’s the least we can do.”
