Abridge Volkswagen in Harlow and Loughton are geared up for a performance driving weekend giving customers the chance to get behind the wheel of the brand new Golf GTI and the sporty Scirocco.
The action packed weekend will take place on 6th - 7th June to launch the arrival of the Golf GTI and is set to entertain the whole family.
Customers will have the opportunity to test out the enhanced capabilities of the new model, as well as the Scirocco R, on the roads around Harlow.
An impressive eight lane Scalextric track will challenge the younger customers, as well as those big kids, in a quest to find the quickest and most skilful driver. GTI branded merchandise will be awarded for the fastest laps for various ages groups.
The Volkswagen retailers will proudly display a vintage Mark 1 Golf GTI and Scirocco for customers to admire and see how the range has developed over the years. The iconic vehicles have been kindly donated by members of the local Volkswagen Owners Club and Club GTI.
A pit stop refreshment stand will keep families fully fuelled with a barbeque taking place over lunch.
The arrival of the new Golf GTI has already generated high level of interest as Frank Plant, Abridge Harlow brand manager explained. He said: “The new GTI is certainty impressive and we have already received a high number of test drive requests.
“Its class leading levels of safety with seven airbags, including for the first time a knee airbag, all as standard, combined with its stylish interior plus a 2.0 litre TSI turbocharged engine, makes it a striking choice for motorists of the classic car.
A competition to guess how many balloons will fit into a Beetle will add further entertainment. “Filling the car will be tricky but I am sure it will add to the day’s fun,” added Frank.
